Hello AIM Families!
Classes are going fantastically and our instructors are very proud of how hard all of the dancers are working in class so far. Here’s the latest news at the studio:
October Payments
October payments are now due. You should have received an invoice in your email. You can pay online via a link on your invoice, in person, or over the phone. During evening classes, there may not be anyone at the front desk to take a credit card payment. We have a designated box on the front desk for you to drop off checks when you bring your dancers to class. If you prefer to pay via credit card, you are welcome to call or come in during office hours.
Office Hours
Fall Office Hours are Mondays 11:30am-3:30pm, Wednesdays 12pm-5pm, and Fridays 11am-4pm. I will be available during these hours to answer any questions you may have and take payments over the phone or in person.
Halloween Costume Week
We want to see all of our dancers’ fun and creative costumes! The week of Halloween (Monday October 28th – Friday November 1st), students are invited to wear their costumes to dance class. Outfits which may impede movement might need to be removed, so please wear your regular class attire underneath the costume. Dancers who have class on Halloween (Thurs Oct 31st) are welcome to come to a different class that week if they will be trick-or-treating during their class time.
Recital 2014 Theme
We are excited to announce that the theme of this year’s recital will be “One Hit Wonders and Musical Legends.” Our instructors are busy selecting songs for their classes, and we’d love to have your input! If you haven’t already, be sure to “like” our page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/artsinmotiondance. Then leave us a comment on our wall telling us your favorite one hit wonders and which artists you consider to be “Musical Legends.” You just might see our dancers performing to your suggestions in June!
Costume Payments
Costume payments ($85 per class) are due November 1st. This fee will be reflected on your November invoice. We accept payments online via a link on your invoice, in person at the studio, or over the phone with a credit card. Please let me know if you have any questions about your account.
Referral Program
Your recommendations are so important to us! If you refer a friend to AIM and they mention your name when they register, you will receive a $20 referral credit on your account. There is no limit to the number of referral credits you can receive, and we continue to accept registrations through the end of October, so spread the word!
Birthday Parties at AIM
Have a birthday coming up? Celebrate at AIM! We schedule 90 minute parties on Saturday afternoons and can customize your party for any age (4 and up) and style of dance. Contact me for more information or to book your party.

Fall Registration
Join us for our second year! We are currently accepting registration for fall classes. The schedule of classes is attached to this email. We can take registration over the phone, or come in on Tuesdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm to register in person and get a free t-shirt. We’ll also be taking registration at the open houses, below. We’ll have activities for kids and special coupons and prizes for registering!
Open Houses
Meet our instructors, find the right class for your child, and register for classes. We’ll have special prizes and coupons for everyone who registers at open house. Disco Sports will be on site for all of your dance wear needs.

Kids’ Night Out
Drop off the kids at AIM for an evening of dancing, pizza, crafts, games, a movie, and other fun activities. You get an evening to yourself, and we’ll tire out the kids! Ages 5+. $35 for the first child, $25 for each additional sibling. Call 804-741-2AIM or email aim@artsinmotionda.com to register.

Referral Program
Tell your friends about us! If your friends mention your name when they register for fall classes at AIM, you will receive a Referral Credit of $20 on your account! There is no limit to the number of Referral Credits you can receive, so spread the word! Credits are given for referring new students only (not previously enrolled in 2012-2013 or summer 2013 classes).
COSTUMES
Costume order deadline is January 21st. IF YOU HAVE NOT YET ORDERED YOUR DANCER’S COSTUMES ON COSTUMEMANAGER.COM, PLEASE DO SO IMMEDIATELY! It can take up to 16 weeks for costumes to be manufactured and shipped, so it is EXTREMELY important that costumes be ordered ASAP in order for them to arrive in time for picture day.
RECITAL 2013 SHOWS
Our first annual Spring Recital will be held on Sunday, June 16th at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Classes will be split into two separate shows: 1:00pm and 4:30pm. Dancers will be required to be at the theater 1 hour before their show time. Each performance will be last between 60 and 90 minutes long. We have done our best to schedule siblings and dancers in multiple classes in the same shows, however, some families will be attending both performances. Advanced dancers will also perform in both shows. The following charts are lists of which classes perform in which shows, but do NOT indicate the show order. More details, including rehearsal schedules and ticket info, will be released by March 1st.
FINALE
All dancers will perform in the Finale of their show. During the Finale, dancers come back on stage to do some more short choreography and take a final bow all together.
Finale Costume: Black pants (any style), solid green or blue top (any style), bare feet. Finale costumes are provided by parents and may be items already owned or can be purchased anywhere.
PICTURE DAY
Mark your calendars! Picture Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 18th at the studio. Splendid Portraits, an experienced and reputable professional photography company, will be taking our pictures. You can order group shots and individual portraits of your child in his/her costume. Picture Day is a fundraiser for AIM, so I hope you will consider ordering photos! A specific schedule and ordering info will be released by March 1st.
HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF DRIVE
Join AIM and Crave Frozen Yogurt to help victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey! Wednesday 11/7 through Wednesday 11/14, we will be collecting non-perishable food items, clothing, and toys to donate to the Red Cross. Bring in a donation and receive a free AIM water bottle and a $1.00 off coupon to Crave Frozen Yogurt (while supplies last). If you donate during one of our Zumba® Fitness classes, you can come try the class for free!
GUEST INSTRUCTOR – COLIN DILLARD
We are excited to announce that Hip Hop aficionado Colin Dillard will be coming to AIM as a guest instructor! He will be teaching Miss Maggie’s Hip Hop classes on Wednesday 11/7 and Thursday 11/8. Colin grew up dancing here in Richmond VA and currently performs as a member of RVA Dance Collective and has performed professionally with Kings Dominion as a breakdancer. AIM is excited to bring Colin to our students to experience his incredible talent! He will be introducing some fun and challenging floor-work and breakdancing moves, so get ready to sweat!
HOLIDAY SALE
Keep an eye out for a special AIM Holiday sale! We will have tons of new merchandise available and special deals on Zumba® class cards. These items will make fabulous gifts for any dancer or Zumba® enthusiast! We will be taking pre-orders soon.
REMINDER – NAMES ON SHOES!
We’ve had a few dance shoe mix-ups and some abandoned ballet slippers at the studio, so I want to remind everyone to please write their child’s name on their shoes! I recommend writing the name (first and last) on the inside of the shoe so it is not visible from the outside while performing. If you have hand-me-downs from a different dancer, be sure to cross out the old name to avoid extra confusion! Thanks everyone!

10/29-11/2: HALLOWEEN COSTUME WEEK Students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to class during the week of Halloween! We recommend that dancers wear their regular dance clothes underneath of their costumes, just in case the costumes get in the way during class. We’re excited to see what creative and spooky outfits everyone comes up with! 10/31: OPEN ON HALLOWEENAll AIM classes are running on a regular schedule on Halloween (Wed 10/31). Please email casey@artsinmotionda.com to let us know if your student(s) will not be attending class on Halloween so our instructors can plan accordingly. NEW HIP HOP CLASS ADDED Due to the incredible popularity of this class, we’ve added a third Hip Hop 1 for 7-10 year olds on FRIDAYS from 3:45pm-4:45pm. This class is open to brand new students and currently enrolled dancers. Students in the Tuesday 6:30pm-7:30pm or the Thursday 5:00pm-6:00pm classes are welcome to switch into the new Friday class. Just send an email to casey@artsinmotionda.com or call 804-741-2246. Be sure to tell your friends, too! This class will begin as soon as we have at least 4 students enrolled. NEW ZUMBA® CLASS ADDEDBeginning on November 13th, our amazing Zumba® Fitness instructor Henry Hill Jr. will be teaching a regular class on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30. This is a great opportunity for parents of students enrolled in the Hip Hop 1 class at the same time to get in the studio for a fun and energetic work out! ADULT JAZZ/HIP HOP AIM instructor Maggie Joseph teaches an awesome Jazz/Hip Hop class for adults (16+) on Thursday evenings from 8:00-9:00. WOW! Our first year is off to a great start! Classes are underway, and students are already making progress and having a blast with our instructors. Thank you to all of our parents and students for being a part of AIM! Next week, September 24th-September 28th, is BRING A FRIEND TO CLASS WEEK. Currently registered students can invite a friend to join in on the dancing fun! Space in classes for guests is limited, so invited friends must RSVP beforehand. Please call 804-741-2246 or email aim@artsinmotionda.com at least 1 day before the class to reserve your spot. If your guest then registers for classes at AIM, you will get a $20 referral credit on your account, and the new student will receive ½ off their registration fee. We also have an exciting new class on the schedule: THEATER AT AIM. Theater isn’t just for Broadway stars! Join us for our weekly class that will introduce children of all ages to all that the theater has to offer. We’ll play games, learn improvisation techniques, and focus on speaking clearly and confidently in front of an audience (great practice for those oral reports in school!). Theater builds social skills, emphasizes cooperation and creativity, and builds self confidence. Watch your shy child realize what he or she has to offer, or allow your attention-seeker to shine! Whether they dream of the silver screen or just want to try something new, take advantage of this opportunity to learn more of what the theater has to offer your child!
