What to Expect:
Our little ones' brains and bodies are developing at lightning speed at this age. They're constantly experiencing new things and taking in new information. This class will be a brand new environment with lots of brand new people to meet. This can be overwhelming, so feeling shy is totally normal!
Some children process new information by observing and not participating, That's fine! We sometimes see students exclusively observe class for several weeks, and then when they're ready, they jump in with both feet!
Some children process new information by doing...on their own terms. It's highly likely that your little mover will follow some, but not all, instructions. That's okay, too! We encourage our young movers to experiment and play in class!
Some children do their own thing entirely! As long as they're staying safe, we love it when our students explore the space and move how their bodies want to in the moment!
As you know, your child is unique. It is totally okay if they don't react to class in the same way as their classmates. It's also totally fine if they don't seem to be "getting it." Little brains learn much more than we often give them credit for! So even if your child is apprehensive, does their own thing during class, or sits and observes the other dancers, they're still benefiting from the new experience and the new learning environment. We often hear from parents that their young dancers "play dance class" at home, teaching siblings or toys what they've learned, even if they're don't appear to be participating fully in class!
