Carmen Eguez (she/her)
Carmen is a professional modern and contemporary dancer trained in ballet technique as her first passion. She began her dance schooling with the Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk Virginia as a ballet major. After graduating in 2011, she danced as a trainee with North Carolina Dance Theatre, now Charlotte Ballet under the direction of Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, as well as Nashville Ballet with Paul Vasterling. Carmen began her professional dance career dancing for Todd Rosenlieb Dance and Virginia Ballet Theater for two seasons with Todd Rosenlieb and Ricardo Melendez as directors.
After dancing with TRD and VBT she moved to New York city and trained with Steps on Broadway, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Parsons Dance, and others by taking intensives. In 2016 she became a company member with Heidi Latsky Dance which is a physically integrated modern contemporary company. Heidi’s company was invited to perform in various locations such as: The Russian Drama Theatre in Armenia, United Nations Building in NYC, Montclair University, Baruch College, The Whitney Museum, City College, Hurleyville Arts Center and many other performance venues. Since moving back to Virginia, Carmen is continuing her dance career as a member of Conflux Dance Theater under the direction of Miguel Perez. Carmen is excited for another year teaching at Arts in Motion this year! |
