Brittany Alness - Tap, Jazz, Ballet

Brittany Alness was raised in Northern Virginia, where she grew up studying all dance disciples, including ballet, tap, jazz, modern, contemporary, and musical theater.
Brittany continued her dance education and earned her BFA in Dance and Choreography at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, VA. During her time at VCU she had the privilege to study under Scott Putman, Christian Von Howard, Melanie Richards, Judith Steel, Martha Curtis, and Courtney Harris. At VCU, Brittany gained a greater knowledge base in Dance History and Education, Dance Science, and Alignment. While also learning, she had the joy to perform in faculty works and works set by her peers.
After college Brittany moved back to Northern Virginia to continue training. She was a member of Dancin’ Unlimited Jazz Dance Company under the direction of Marilyn York and was a founding member of MotionX Dance D.C. under the direction of Stephine Dorycott. She performed all over the D.C. and Metropolitan area in several different venues such as: John F. Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, Capital Fringe Festival, Atlas Intersection Festival and several others.
What Brittany enjoys more than performing herself is teaching and sharing her passion with young dancers. Brittany has taught all over the Northern Virginia area for over 15 years. In 2016 she was nominated and received the Favorite Dance Instructor Award in Loudoun County. Over the years she has not only had the pleasure to teach and choreograph for dance studios, but she has also brought the dance art form into the school systems by creating after school programs for pre-K- 5th grade. Along with creating programs outside of the studio, she has been a part of creating and building programs within the studio; she is best known for her Disney Program that she co-founded/co-directed with another one of her colleagues.
Brittany loves to encourage, motive and help her dancers find their passion in life. “To me it’s more than just dance, it’s a way of living."
